Review: Premier RV Resort

Author: Shannon  //  Category: Destinations

Scott and I had to go to Salem last weekend for my niece’s 14th birthday party and we jumped at the opportunity to head out in the trailer for a ‘mini-trip.’  Well… I jumped and Scott (bless his poor, functioning on a few hours of sleep soul) did not complain one little bit.  He found a place for us to stay, hooked up the rig and after quickly packing a few things and loading up the dogs we headed down the road.

Our destination - Premier RV Resort located just outside of Salem.  Scott said it was the first place that popped up in Google and he made the reservations on the spot.  Every time we make a quick decision like that we run into problems, so I was a bit worried… but it turned out I didn’t need to be.

This is one of the nicer RV resorts we have stayed in (although the one at Seven Feathers Casino still tops our list).

A big plus for us, considering we have three dogs, is that it is pet friendly.  They even have a fenced-in area to take your dogs to - complete with poop baggies and a garbage can to dump the smellies in.  There is even a cute, plastic fire hydrant that our little guy, Chester, discovered right away.

Another big plus - Spirit Mountain Casino is just a half hour away.  We couldn’t resist and headed there the first night.  Had a lot of fun, but by the time we left we had certainly made our donation to the Spirit Mountain fund.

Oh… and I can’t forget about the free wi-fi, which for a couple of laptop-toters is very nice.  Here are some of the other amenities:

  • Continental breakfast.
  • Newspaper delivered to your RV site in the morning.
  • Pool and hot tub.  The pool isn’t open yet, but the hot tub is.
  • Golf practice area.
  • Laundromat.

On the down side, we had a little trouble getting the trailer positioned just right to hook up the water, sewer and electric.  We ended up missing out on the free cable because our cord wouldn’t reach.   The park is pretty open as well… meaning no trees, but the grass is nicely manicured and there are nice landscaping features throughout.

Despite not being able to hook up the cable, it was a pleasant stay at a well-kept, quiet RV resort.  They also have the kind of sites we love - pull-throughs.  And here’s a tip to save some money - some printable coupons for 15% off.  We got a deal using one of the coupons and our Good Sam discount.

P.S. - Scott talked to the folks in the office and they said there are a lot of young full-timers out there on the road… more than you would think.  So we’re not the only ones who realize there’s a whole other type of life you can live if you choose to.

Ooooh, that was the very first place we stayed at after we picked up our Arctic Fox in Portland. We love that place! Although it’s definitely not rustic, it’s as close to staying at a high end hotel as you can get when you have an RV. So far, in all of our travels over the last year, not one RV park has measured up to the service and amenities that Premiere offers. They have another one in Eugene, but it’s not quite as nice as the Salem one.
